Poor relationships at work can affect our home life
"We seek the comfort of another. Someone to share and share the life we choose. Someone to help us through the never-ending attempt to understand ourselves. And in the end, someone to comfort us along the way."

Work-Related Problems

The workplace can give rise to problems which are difficult to address and, as a result, become more serious. If left unresolved, these can contribute to stress, anxiety or depression leading to poor performance, absence and feelings of failure. They can also impact on relationships at home.

Common problems at work which often give rise to difficulties include:

  • Not relating well to a manager or subordinate
  • Adjusting to changes in working practices
  • Working in a team
  • Coping with increased workload/reduced personnel
  • Losing colleagues through redundancy
  • The threat of redundancy
  • Adjusting to working off-site, either at home or at a customer site
  • Adjusting to returning to on-site working
  • Mergers, takeovers and restructuring
  • Too much travel
  • Tight deadlines

This list is by no means exhaustive.

A counsellor who understands workplace issues can often help unravel the problems you are experiencing, casting new light on your situation and helping you decide the best approach to take to resolve matters.
