About Diana Neale

Qualifications and Training

I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and UKRC Registered Independent Counsellor, and as such my work is underpinned by the BACP Framework for Ethical Practice in Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Apart from my qualifications in individual and couples counselling, I have qualifications in adult education and health education. As part of on-going professional development, I regularly attend courses, workshops, seminars and conferences on related topics. In addition I have received training in CBT (Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy) skills and techniques, which I incorporate into my practice when appropriate.

Experience

During my career, I have worked with groups and individuals, both in the community and private and public sector workplace, on aspects of personal development.

As well as having worked for Relate, I spent four years as Practice Counsellor in a GP surgery.

Professional Interests

As a counsellor I would describe myself as a generalist. However, I also have a special interest and expertise in relationship (couples) counselling and have been extensively trained in working with obesity, eating disorders and family relationships. I have over many years helped people cope with stress through counselling and coaching (The difference? See Coaching Versus Counselling).

Professional Supervision

I am a qualified supervisor and have been supervising counsellors since January 2006. If you would like to know more about this aspect of my work, see Clinical Supervision.
